City University of Seattle Workshop: English Learners in the WL Classroom

Have you ever asked yourself: Is it confusing for English Leaners to be in a World Language classroom? Isn’t teaching English Learners English the same as teaching any other world language? What do I do when a native speaker of the target language I’m teaching is assigned to my class??
Learn the answers to these questions and more in the “English Learners in the World Language Classroom” workshop! Presented by Bethany Moffatt, instructor at City University of Seattle.
Who: Pre-service and in-service world language teachers
What: A workshop to acquaint you with the differences between teaching English Learners and teaching world language learners, how to differentiate for English learners in world language classrooms by looking at the elements of the EL endorsement compared to the WL endorsement; 3 clock hours (pending)

Workshop Description: Our excellent Special Guest Speakers will show pictures and videos of their premier student work in cultural products, such as Chinese painting, calligraphy, song, dance, martial arts, and arts & craft projects that celebrate Chinese and American festivals. The workshop will give teachers ideas and directions for cultural projects they may do in the coming year, and initiate idea exchange among teachers during the summer.
